All workmanship is warranted for a period of one year. Materials are typically covered under the manufacturer’s warranty.

Yes. We always offer the options of allowing the customer to apply for permits. However, on more complex projects, you can leave the permits to us. We have deep experience and technical knowledge, and this can expedite these services.

Do you sub-contract out your projects?

No. We never sub-contract out any of our projects. The only areas of our projects we do sub-out include: Electrical, plumbing, HVAC, drywall, concrete, and landscaping. The professionals we utilize are best-in-class, and have been affiliated with JOR Development for over 20 years time and are close members of our company.

What is a typical timeframe to complete a project?

It varies depending on the size of your project and scope of work. Our projects generally average 6 to 8 weeks for a kitchen remodel, and bathroom renovations can often be performed in a shorter time frame. We work quickly and efficiently, never compromising quality.

How (specifically) do you personalize service to clients?

If a client selects our company for the design and/or construction of their home or renovation/remodeling, we will be helping them through many, if not all, of the stages of home design, budgeting, materials selections, landscape planning, site preparation, Architectural Review Board, and construction. We will be answering client questions all throughout the process, assisting with decision-making, and doing out utmost to eliminate any and all concerns.

We regularly meet with clients in personal meetings either at the job site, or in our office. We serve clients best by retaining and fostering the most talented people available, and we work hard to effect personalized service between our clients and various specialists. We are largely a referral-based business, and we take pride in working with clients to deliver on our commitment.

How do I best select a general contractor?

Home remodeling contractors are a must for successful completion of a renovation. It is essential that you do your homework before deciding on the right general contractor as you remodel or build a house.

Inspect bids carefully. Was it ready when the contractor promised it? Was the bid for building a home unusually high or low? Each of these things can be very telling: A late bid may reflect timing standards, and an off-the-mark bid could be code for a pricey premium or a deliberate underbid to score the remodeling job. You should call references, carefully read reviews and visit completed projects to see if they’re what you expect for your job. Once you do secure your local contractors, read the contract very carefully to be sure everyone is on the same page.

Questions to ask prospective general contractors:

  • How long have you been in the business?
  • How many projects like mine have you completed?
  • Who will be working on the project?
  • What qualities do you look for in your subcontractors?
  • Can you provide me with references?
  • Are you licensed and insured?
  • How do you charge, and what does that include?
  • What happens when costs exceed budget, whether due to materials or labor pricing changes? What about changes made by the client or by the professionals — what kinds of situations would cause those costs to be incurred?
  • Can you give me a written estimate?
  • What do your services include?
  • When can your job get done?
  • What will I need to provide?
  • Are there any important considerations or concerns you foresee with this project?
